The Yankees used a six-run eighth inning, highlighted by Cody Bellinger’s grand slam, to surge past the Mets for an 8-2 win Sunday night in the Bronx, taking two of three in the first Subway Series of the season.
With the game tied at two, Jasson Domínguez raced home on a throwing error by Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, sparking the decisive rally. Paul Goldschmidt followed with an RBI single before Bellinger crushed his ninth career grand slam off Génesis Cabrera, sending a sellout crowd of 48,028 at Yankee Stadium into a frenzy.
Bellinger finished the night with six RBI, including a two-run double in the first inning after a Mets defensive miscue. He extended his hitting streak to 13 games, tying his career high.

Max Fried delivered another strong outing, allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings while striking out eight. His 1.29 ERA through 10 starts this season leads Major League Baseball. Devin Williams played a key role out of the bullpen, setting down Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Mark Vientos in order in the top of the eighth.
